About

Mission:

Girls Rock! Rochester is dedicated to empowering girls through music creation and performance. By providing educational workshops and technical training, we foster creativity while cultivating a supportive community of peers and mentors, encouraging social change and the development of life and leadership skills that girls can utilize to help guide them throughout life.

Statement of Purpose:

By providing educational music lessons and workshops that foster creativity, we hope to encourage girls to explore their self-expressive creative outlets that may not have been explored otherwise. We believe that young girls in today’s society are at a disadvantage as they are often pressured from a young age to conform to gender stereotypes that have been preconceived by society and the mainstream media. Girls Rock! Rochester strives to empower girls by using rock music as a tool to harness their inner “rock star,” helping to develop self confidence and a strong mind. We are committed to providing a supportive community of female peers and mentors throughout this educational experience so that girls can be themselves, and most importantly, have fun.
